A glimpse of what awaits...
Perhaps it's time to become enchanted again
Two years ago, I opened the doors to Becoming Nature for the first time. It grew from a very personal place.
For most of my life, my relationship with nature has been bound up with creativity: going out onto the land, paying attention, and gathering stories through words, photographs and film.
But even something we love can slip down the list when life gets busy. Becoming Nature gave me a rhythm that keeps calling me back outdoors, keeps me looking, and keeps me curious. Keeps me accountable. And then I share what I find.
Over two years, it's grown into a vast collection of films, poetry, writing, meditations and deeper explorations of nature, all created to help us keep that relationship alive.
So, as Becoming Nature reaches its second birthday, I wanted to celebrate by opening up some of that experience and sharing it more widely.
I've created Three Enchanted Evenings with Nature: three free gatherings exploring three ways of meeting the living world, through stillness, creativity and curiosity.
And somewhere along the way, you may rediscover a little of the enchantment that has been waiting for us all along.
Three evenings. Three pathways into enchantment.
Each evening explores a different way of deepening our relationship with the living world,
together forming a gentle journey through stillness, creativity and curiosity.
The Enchantment of Stillness
Wednesday 7th October 7pm UK time
We begin by slowing down. Through film, attention and simple sensory practices, we'll explore what happens when we give ourselves permission to pause. Space to breathe. Space to notice. Space for nature to reach us.
We begin by slowing down. Through film, quiet attention and simple sensory practices, we'll explore what happens when we give ourselves permission to pause and become fully present with the natural world. This evening is about making space. Space to breathe. Space to notice. Space for nature to reach us.
You'll experience one of my Medicine Movies, an immersive nature film made to help you slow down and settle, and we'll explore some of the ideas behind my Shinrin-Yoku practices, inspired by the Japanese art of forest bathing. A gentle evening of restoration, attention and quiet connection.

The Enchantment of Creativity
Sunday 11th October 7pm UK time
Nature has always been one of my greatest creative companions. We'll explore creativity as a way of entering into a richer conversation with the living world. You don't need to think of yourself as creative.
Nature has always been one of my greatest creative companions. Photography, film and writing have taught me to look more closely, linger for longer, and pay attention to the small details that might otherwise pass unnoticed. During this evening we'll explore creativity as a way of entering into a richer conversation with the living world.
We'll share poetry, explore some simple creative practices, and I'll introduce you to the Desire Lines prompts I use to encourage reflection and nature writing. You don't need to think of yourself as creative. All you need is curiosity and a willingness to respond to whatever catches your attention.

The Enchantment of Wonder
Tuesday 13th October 7pm UK time
On our final evening, we'll follow some of nature's hidden threads. The ordinary world is filled with extraordinary stories, in trees, birds, tides, insects, weather, fungi and feathers.
On our final evening, we'll follow some of nature's hidden threads. The ordinary world is filled with extraordinary stories, in trees, birds, tides, insects, weather, fungi, feathers and countless other things we may walk past every day. Through the Curiosity Cabinet, we'll explore how learning a little more about what surrounds us can transform the way we see it.
We'll follow one of these threads together and discover where curiosity can lead. I'll also give you a glimpse of the deeper explorations I create through the Becoming Nature Deep Dives. A celebration of fascination, mystery and the pleasure of knowing the living world a little better.

Three evenings. Three different doorways.
One invitation: to slow down, look more closely, and allow the natural world to become a little more vivid again.

The film was mesmerising
Oh my, Jason, what a gorgeous gift for a grey Thursday. The film was mesmerising and one of the things I really appreciate about your films is that you linger and give us time to actually look and see. It's not all zipping about to the next panoramic view...
What you'll experience...
Across the three evenings, you'll be invited into a mixture of film, reflection, poetry, creative exploration and simple nature connection practices.
There's plenty of space to simply watch, listen and absorb, alongside gentle invitations to notice, write, reflect and respond in your own way.
You can expect:
Your free workbook.
A beautifully designed workbook accompanies the series, with space to gather thoughts, observations and ideas as we move through the three evenings together. This will be delivered by email the day before the series begins.
Join in as much or as little as feels right. You can write and respond, or simply settle in with a cup of tea. All you need to bring is yourself, a little curiosity, and perhaps a notebook.
This is for you if any of these fit:
You can still nurture a meaningful relationship with the natural world, wherever you are.
These evenings will include ways of connecting from wherever you are, using film, sound, words, imagination, close observation and the small pockets of nature that may already be around you. You won't need specialist knowledge, expensive equipment or access to wild places. Wherever you are starting from, you'll be very welcome.

I've been diving into the practices, and I have to say, the second one is my favourite. Taking just a minute each day to notice what's around me has been such a delightful break from my regular hustle and bustle.
It’s become a little ritual I look forward to!

Two years ago, Becoming Nature gave that relationship a regular rhythm, and in many ways this community keep each other returning: continuing to notice, continuing to wonder, and continuing to make space for the living world in our lives.
"Sometimes that leads to a photograph, a film or a piece of writing. Sometimes it simply means being there."
A lifetime of looking closely
Pay attention. Build relationship. Share what you discover.
My relationship with nature began very early.
As a little boy, I had a severe stammer and found speaking to people difficult. I spent a great deal of time outdoors, and discovered something there that has stayed with me ever since. Nature offered companionship.
I could wander, watch, listen and be myself. I became fascinated by birds, animals, changing light, weather, landscapes and all the details of the living world.
And even at that tender age, I wanted to share what I was seeing. With a camera, I could show my family and friends the things I struggled to put into words. The images became another kind of language, a way of saying, 'look at this… isn't it wonderful?'
In time, I recovered from my stammer, but the desire to tell stories through images never left me. For around forty years I've worked as a nature photographer and filmmaker, my work appearing in hundreds of magazines and books.
Over those years, I became less interested in simply recording nature and more interested in relationship. In lingering, noticing, asking what a place might reveal if I stayed a little longer.
Photography taught me to wait, film taught me to catch the stories. Writing encouraged me to follow the threads of curiosity that began appearing everywhere.
That way of working grew into Earthlight, a space where I could share the beauty, mystery and stories of the natural world.
That is the spirit I'll be bringing to these Three Enchanted Evenings.
And I'd love you to join me.
Come and join me
If something in these evenings has spoken to you, I'd love you to be part of them.
Whatever brings you here, you'll be very welcome. You may have been longing for more time with nature, or want to notice more and create more space. You may already have a strong relationship with the living world and would enjoy three evenings of fresh inspiration.
Three Enchanted Evenings with Nature is my way of celebrating two years of Becoming Nature by opening the door a little wider. We'll gather on Zoom for three evenings of stillness, creativity and curiosity.
