The Celtic Rainyforest.

Well, the weather forecast was spot on. Rain all day. But what better way to see a rainforest! It did bring a whole thundercloud of technical issues for me but I wouldn't have had it any other way. By the end of the day I was soaked to my undercrackers and my fingers and toes were well and truly pruned however the shoot was a real success for me. The woodland gave me her best side and I worked with the challenging conditions as best I could.

I have the place all to myself too! That is, the beings of the forest had me all to themselves for the day. 🙂

I've put together a short Medicine Movie of the rainyforest below for you, not wanting to spoil the wonder of the full film that'll be out at the Autumn Equinox.

Enjoy!!

Setting the scene in Snowdonia
  • Oh the rain, here in Wales. It took some getting used to when we first moved here, but now I can happily listen to it for hours. It is soothing. Fab shots of the rainforest. I have moved my potential trip to a rainforest to the top of my to do list now. Thank you so much for the inspiring scenes and thoughts.

  • I love your film Jason, captures this ancient rain forest beautifully. I also love listening to the rain. Never knew that rain can sound like crackling fire! Thank you very much!

    • Thank you Veronika. I think the crackling was the large drops from the trees above landing on the umbrella or the microphone on the camera to be honest.

  • Wow, Jason – this Celtic rainforest film is absolutely extraordinary … a portal into another world – magical and mesmerising. I didn’t want it to end! I love the sound track with the rain. It is another one of your meditations. Thank you 🙏

  • This is so atmospheric, Jason. I hadn’t known that we have rainforest in our land. It is beautiful. What makes it rainforest and not just soggy woodland?

    • Thank you Vivien. I think it’s the mix of specific species, especially of lichens, mosses and the like that give an ancient woodland the name ‘rainforest’. Technically it’s called either Celtic or Atlantic rainforest and it’s so good they’re coming into awareness now.

  • Wow. Stunning. So atmospheric. Well done for creating this. The sound of the rain and were they singing bowls you used as a soundtrack? A perfect harmony. I look forward to future Medicine Movies! Thank you.

  • Really enjoying ‘our’ travels! Love the medicine movie. I think the kitchen and ferns are stunning and so prehistoric. Thank you for sharing

The Rainyforest. Thank you so much for this. I’m speechless. And my favourite moss too. It was magnificent… Oh to be out in the All of Everything , for those of us whose hearts long to be there but for now are not. Huge gratitude for all the love you put into these words and films 🥹🙏

  • Wow, the rainy forest meditation …I just melted , loved hearing the rain fall, the moss and lichens. The colour contrasts within the trees. Superb.
Thank you for your enthusiasm and talent. I’m looking forward to October the 3rd. 🙏🌻

  • I loved the rainy forest medicine movie…the rain, water and singing bowls soundtrack was perfectly soothing and meditative. The glistening diamond strewn bush and magical moss’s were beautiful.
A weekly medicine movie that you mentioned would be fantastic Jason, if you can fit it into your busy schedule! Thank you for letting us share another of your journeys…🪶

  • Having been part of the journey circle last night, with the theme of deepening our nature connection, I noticed so many comments about your daily updates and videos from your trip to Snowdonia, Jason. I had not had the time to watch them, so decided I had to set aside some time… so I binge- watched them this morning! Wow, they were so beautiful. I loved the poetry you chose to introduce yourself to the land and the river, I loved the message of the boulders and how we can apply this in our daily life, and I loved the atmospheric feel of the rainforest in the pouring rain (rather you than me on that day, though 😅 ) thank you so much for sharing. I’m going to snowdonia in a few weeks time, so am really looking forward to it. Ps.. the cap is great!!

    • Thank you Alexandra, I appreciate your taking the time to write this. Do try to make time to go to Cwm Idwal and Coed Felenrhyn, they are both dripping with magic and mystery.

  • Thank you for sharing the Celtic rainy forest. It’s so dull, cold and windy that I did not want to venture out at all, so was delighted you did and evidently enjoyed the experience. Loved your comment re the beings of the forest had you all to themselves.
