Soldier Beetle

Damp drops drizzle down, filtering through the canopy
Six layers of green add their memories to the riverine runnels
That catch and fall, catch and fall.
A world of fly, bug and beetle weaves the sense of land
Into the cloth of ages
As I taste the forbidden fruits of creative abandon.
Seeking the sign that it’s ok to walk, not talk
To see, not survey.
