Reclaim Your Relationship with Nature
Transform Stress and Disconnection into Calm and Belonging
even if you’re busy, anxious, or unsure where to begin
The doors to Becoming Nature are now closed until early 2027
Why Time in nature matters
We all know how time out in nature can help us. How nature time reduces our stress levels, boosts our feel good hormones and gives our minds time to reset.
But so often life gets in the way, and a roam in nature gets relegated to the back of the line, after you’ve ticked off all the tasks… and by then, the moment has passed. The pull of the screen, the sofa, the next task… wins again.
The very problems and unhelpful patterns that nature time can help solve get in the way of our tapping into the solution!
Maybe you don’t have hours spare, or the energy to wander far and, to be honest, you may not really know how to start building the consistent practice that you know will settle and sustain you.
Through his many gifts, which he generously shares with us, I am learning to slow down and with patience notice the tiny details, beauty and light all around me as I walk in nature near my home. It is life changing and precious.
Jason’s success looks easy, but it is honed over a lifetime of dedicated work as a film maker and artist. He has an impressively great talent and I am grateful to have connected with him and his work. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this opportunity and your myriad gifts.

It's available for you too
Yet you know it’s all waiting for you. Just there, within reach, that ‘Peace of Wild Things’ you read about in poetry and perhaps sense on your weekend wanders.
What you need is a way back in, a guide to the living world. And a way to stay tuned to the natural world even when you can’t get out, a simple approach to keep you connected through thick and thin.
The grounding, clarity and sense of peace you are longing for is actually within your grasp, and you don’t need to climb mountains, save it for the holidays or travel to the countryside to access it.
You too can build a relationship with the more-than-human world that will settle your spirit, reset your mind and help you see things more clearly whatever your circumstances, wherever you live, regardless of your busy, hectic life.
Let me be your guide.
How I found my way to nature
My path in life began as a young lad with a fierce stutter. Speaking was near impossible, and I often found myself quite isolated. So I spent time in the forgotten corners of the backstreets, among the unkempt wild plants and urban wildlife.
Soon I began to wander further, into the woods, streams, and moors near my home, and I found I could communicate with the living world around me.
Nature became my friend, my sanctuary, and my teacher. and I wanted to share what I was seeing. So I taught myself to take photographs. That impulse, to share the beauty and mystery of our natural world, never changed.
When I left school, I set out to become a nature photographer, filmmaker, and writer and for some 30 years I worked professionally in that field. My images have appeared in hundreds of books and magazines, and still do. But over time, I wanted to go deeper, to help others build an enduring relationship with nature.
So I created Earthlight and began using my visual storytelling skills as a bridge, a simple, honest guide back into relationship with the land.
Through my films, images, and written pieces I’ve helped hundreds of people reconnect with nature, even those who believed they were too busy, too scared, or too disconnected.
We don't need to escape the modern world to let nature hold the core of us as we move through life because nature is all around us. The steps to a deeper connection are easy, and there are ways to connect even when you can't get out every day.
How you can find your way
What if deepening your connection with nature didn’t require a dramatic lifestyle shift?
What if it was something simple, repeatable, and life-changing?
Imagine having a regular practice, your own easy rhythm, where you return to the peace of the living world again and again as a steady part of daily life rather than something reserved for weekends and holidays.
What would it feel like to begin your day with a moment of stillness drawn from nature? To carry a sense of calm, clarity, and groundedness with you, regardless of what the the day may hold?
Even when you can’t get outside, you’ll know how to touch in, to feel your breath slow, your body ease, and your thoughts clear.
And over time, you’ll feel less overwhelmed and more like yourself again, because you’ve welcomed nature back in.
Becoming Nature is like having a portable doorway into nature whenever you need it. Can’t sleep? Watch one of the medicine movies to soothe and keep you present. Got ten minutes to wait for a club or school run? Then watch a poetic pause. It’s an amazing tool to have in our busy lives.

An easy way to nature despite your busy life
Over the past few years I've been busy experimenting and learning. I asked myself 'how can my mission as a nature photographer and writer help support our community in a joint effort to connect more deeply with the land and thereby benefit from the healing that a reciprocal relationship with nature brings?'
I began by creating short films. Immersive, meditative and inspirational moments from nature caught during long wanders through our countryside. Hundreds of positive responses spurred me on, viewers were telling me they felt a very real healing from the films.
So I researched and refined my creations to tailor them even more to achieve my goal of producing what I now call 'Medicine Movies'. And the reactions came in thick and fast, my films certainly seemed to be having an impact!
There are many published studies that document the huge benefits of immersive short nature films. Of course nothing can replace actual 'nature time', but for the days when we may not be able to fit in a roam outdoors an intelligently produced nature film can fill the gap.
Research has shown a measurable reduction in stress, a much improved mood and a real sense of connection can result from watching a well produced, meditative nature film and the comments on my pieces back this up.
Nature really can help
The evidence is in. A regular dose of nature is absolutely necessary for a healthy and balanced life, even in our modern-day world. Yet more and more our time is taken by the demands of work, responsibility and duty that pull us away from what is truly good for us.
Numerous reports and white papers confirm what we already know at a deep level, we need more nature time, more time looking at the green of the forest, the blue of the ocean and the multitude of colours between.
Our hearing yearns for the rustle of wind in the leaves, the tinkle of a brook, the swell of the ocean tides.
Yet our modern life, driven by a need to produce, to earn and to support others deprives many of a daily connection, a real connection, with the nature that so easily awaits us. Let me help you fix that.
But what if...
“I don’t have time.”
This practice isn’t about spending hours in the wild or carving out big blocks of time. I offer short, meaningful moments that anchor your day and restore your energy. Even five minutes a day can change how you move through the rest of your life.
“I don’t know where to start.”
That’s exactly what this path is for. You don’t need prior experience or a map, you’ll be steadily guided every step of the way. Soon, connecting with nature will become a part of who you are.
“I can’t often get outdoors.”
You don’t have to. This journey includes ways to connect with nature from the comfort of your home, through films, images, reflections, and practices that help you stay attuned, even when stepping outside isn’t possible.
“What if I’m too disconnected?”
You’re not. Nature hasn’t forgotten you. And no matter how long it’s been, the invitation is still open.

See what my community have to say:
"Becoming Nature takes your hand and provides space to observe, to reflect on, and to feel closer to nature."
"Becoming Nature provides a prompt three times a week to connect to, and be inspired by, the natural world. I was a nature obsessed child, followed by a career in conservation, so the natural world has always been an important part of who I am and what I do. But it is not always easy to go out and about, especially to the wilder places.
Becoming Nature reminds me of the variety of landscapes and wildlife we have in this country but more specifically opens a window onto the hills and uplands so very different from my farmed and tamed local geography. Nothing can beat being out there, smelling the wild, touching the earth, hearing the small noises of nature, but when that is difficult to achieve taking a few moments with an uplifting medicine movie or sitting in a virtual sit spot provides a moment for reflection and celebration.
Not only that but the sharing of poems that speak of the wild, which I may not have read, provide a different perspective and there is food for thought in the deep dives that Becoming Nature offers.
If nature is a big part of your life, or you need an introduction to a wild world outside your day-to-day life, Becoming Nature takes your hand and provides space to observe, to reflect on, and to feel closer to nature."

"Becoming Nature has saved my sanity. It brings me back to what is real, and I find it so healing."
I’d like to say (from the heart): Becoming Nature has added a new dimension to my life.
The wonderful films support me in ways I didn’t imagine possible.
All of nature speaks to us through Jason’s diligence, patience and caring - nothing rushed, but time taken - to bring us not only films but poetry and readings, and space to just Be. All of this and his writings which complements it all.
No matter what I am doing in my life I can escape into the land and feel so immersed in it so beautifully with Becoming Nature.
Becoming Nature has saved my sanity. It brings me back to what is real, and I find it so healing.

"Becoming Nature has been the trusted friend who shares something really special that makes you feel honoured and valued"
"Thank you for creating Becoming Nature. I believe, honestly, that the NHS would be wise to include this in their social prescribing, and there’s ample evidence to confirm how beneficial nature connection is to us humans, whether live or on screen.
Becoming Nature has been the trusted friend who shares something really special that makes you feel honoured and valued. This is most obviously evident in your poetic pauses, as you are visible but the sense carries through with each type of offering. The options allow me to choose how I receive my treat, depending on what are my most pressing needs.
I feel my creativity, receptivity to and connection with the natural world around me is boosted whenever I dip into this treasure chest. My busy mind is soothed; I feel restored. There is something suitable for busy times with more treats waiting for when I can take a little more time-out from the demands of society and return to being human: a part of nature, rather than apart from nature.
This is truly a public service and I’m eternally grateful for this. Thank you and congratulations on realising this beautiful creation."
Richard
