Everything was an echo down amongst the budding willows
Curls of torpid branches loomed in the floodwaters
Reflections of winter’s last stand
Crow shaped
Horse chestnut buds launched their clasping hands in a slo-mo salute
As cormorant careened by, swirling oil hues through the dawn mist
Sat in a deer squat surrounded by soft belly fur
I too became crow shaped
Flexing my wing fingers in unison as she called the day to its birthing
