Tidal Dreamings.

When I can’t sleep I imagine myself wrapped in the brown mudflats… I feel the hiss of the tide cocooning around me. The slow advance of the edge immerses me in dreams replete with fish and starstruck water. Around me tiny whorls of unnamed shells dot the flats. Black spots that came from nowhere on lasts night’s tidewash. Living dots that will be gone in the next 6 hour 20 minute rush of the Bay. Splashes of channel walls erode into the current, re-carving the coast one tide at a time. The creep of the strandline wraps gently around me. Seaweed, driftwoods, egg case, gull carcass, shell, the dwell of crab and shrimp. When I can’t sleep I let the tide wash me away.
